About

My-Self

I have always wondered if I am a Stamford native.  I was born in Stamford.  When I was five days old, I moved to Pound Ridge, New York and lived there until I was 25.  I got married then and moved back to Stamford.  My wife and have lived here ever since.

I looked up the dictionary description of native and it says where you are born makes you a native. I am a native of Stamford

Growing up in Pound Ridge you learned to walk.  Pound Ridge is spread out and as a child walking and biking were my main means of going places.  There was a working farm at the end of Barnegat Road, and we would walk there all the time to see the animals and all the sights of a farm. A bonus was a chapel and a graveyard next to the farm that we could explore.

My love of walking received a big boost when I visited my girlfriend in Europe. We had one week where she had to work and I would walk around the village of Schaan and then walk to her office  in Nendlen.  The country was Liechtenstein and is located next to Switzerland in the Alps.  It was quite a challenge to go from walking on flat ground to mountain hiking.

We married and would go back to visit FL.  My wife has a sister who lives in England and we would visit them every so often.   We walked there and England is a walkers paradise.  There are trails everywhere they have carved out easements that allow you to take a straight path.

When the lock-down started, I realized I couldn’t stay home all the time.  That is when my walking really took off.  My wife would drive me to the end points at Stamford and I would walk home from there.  My daily walking went from three to five miles a day to six to nine miles a day.  It took about a month to get in shape from walking that much.

I have discovered so much walking all these miles, historical facts, beautiful houses and lawn and rocks and water.

As I continue to walk, I want to share the great sights and sounds I see.
