I was returning home from my morning walk when I turned the corner to Silver Hill Road and noticed my garage door open. Strange I thought, I was sure I had closed it.
Then I saw my wife digging with a pitchfork. I asked her what she was doing? “ I am digging for worms” was her answer. Then it all clicked immediately.

Now the back story. We had a family of cardinals decide to move to our property and make a nest in the Blue Spruce.
The mother has been incubating eggs for the last couple of days. Today when I looked in the nest, I saw the eggs had hatched and we had baby cardinals.
My wife was digging up worms to help the mother cardinal feed her babies.
Sonhild has always taken care of her family, and she was doing what comes naturally to her taking care of the new family in our yard.
That is one of the many reasons I love her.
